Minor Division (Ages 9- 10)
Rules
- The playing field shall consist of a maximum of 6 infielders with up to 5 players in the outfield.
- Pitching distance shall be 35 feet from the back of home plate.
- If a pitcher walks four (4) consecutive batters in an inning or six (6) total batters in an inning, the batting team’s coach will come in to finish the remainder of the inning and the pitcher will become a pitcher’s helper.
- Open stealing to 2nd and 3rd base is allowed during player and coach pitch portions of the game, but in any event; the runners may not leave the base until the pitched ball crosses the plate.
- Runners may not steal home. EXCEPTION: A runner at third base may steal home only if a play on the runner is attempted by any fielder. Any forward movement towards the runner by any fielder will constitute attempting a play on the fielder’s part. This includes running towards the base runner, raising your hand as though throwing or actually throwing.
- In the event of a wild pitch by a coach (umpire’s discretion) the runners may not steal or advance.
- During any coach-pitch portion of the game the batter will receive up to 5 pitches or 3 strikes, whichever comes first. Players may not walk while a coach is pitching.
- If it is deemed by the umpire that the coach inadvertently interfered with a play, a dead ball will be called and all runners will be sent back to their starting positions. If it is deemed by the umpire that the coach intentionally interfered with a play a dead ball will be called and the lead runner (or batter if there are not runners) will be called out.
- No infield fly rule.
- Bunting is allowed.
- Offensive coaches are allowed at 1st and 3rd base. You may have two defensive coaches in the outfield until May 15th. After that date there will be no defensive coaches allowed. All coaches must be adults.
- Mercy rule: After 4 innings of play and one team is leading by 10 runs, the umpire shall call the game if the home team has been allowed to bat.
